I could not agree more!
BTW, it's up to the people to do their own research! Obviously there is no real protection for the people getting 'taken' so... do your research! I work for a partnership of law firms and we ALWAYS REQUIRE that our clients to their research on us. If they do not, it's their own stupidity!
My suggestion is to find a legit firm and make sure they have a guarentee on their work w/o any hidden fees. That way you are secure AND taken care of.
Knowing what the truth is vs the crap in the media is what will help you!
Your lender will not help you w/o helping themselfs. We are seeing real results for lender mods now, and they are worse than the previous situation! I can't wait to see the results from the equity-share gov't programs! Yippee! Sign me up to share MY hard earned proffits with the GOV"T?! NO THANKS!

IF you are prepared to do your research, check out dunnrussell.com as one option- as always- be prepared for a retainer fee. Attourneys dont work for free, but they do take installments while working as if they had!
**This is all written by ME and not the Co or attourneys; it's my personal opinion etc.**

Oh, Larry.
You are mistaken my friend!
The Government Modifications are VOULENTARY! Banks ARE backwards and even though it doesn't make sence... they are taking homes from American's that have suffered from the economy our Government brought on us! They are ALSO for profit and in the end do same damage they warn about!

Get a mortgage audit done, if these items were not properly disclosed, and some of these lender fees were not properly disclosed\ as it has happened you may have extended rights to rescind the loan. If the transaction was a structured securitization transaction, there are fees to the tune of almost 8 to 9 % of the loan amount that were never disclosed to you on your GFE or HUD1, in fact the contracts among the various entities prevented them from disclosing these fees to you. This is fraud and you could have several causes of action against these lenders.

It is unfortunate that there are so many con artists and scammers out there that I and my firm are having tremendous difficulty doing our jobs to help distressed homeowners.
Most of the replies here are ill-informed, half-witted responses based on lies and false media coverage.
I would highly recommend anyone who may be in financial turmoil right now due to predatory lending to contact or hire an attorney(the California Attorney General actually just said the same thing last week).
Unfortunately, contrary to popular belief, there is almost no attorney in the history of the world who will work for free. A small, upfront retainer will always be required. Prices vary, but most are a small price to pay to have the attorneys got to bat for you. If I were a distressed homeowner, I certainly wouldn't try to represent myself. Especially if my family were at stake.
Do your Homework, and don't listen to all the hype. There are legit companies out there who can help you, you just have to do your due diligence. Only the uninformed can be taken, and that just makes my job harder.

NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE. THE SENATE HAS A BILL HR 1106 "HELPING FAMILIES SAVE THEIR HOMES" WHICH CAN END THIS CRISIS ONCE AND FOR ALL..IT IS ON THE AGENDA FOR THE END OF APRIL 2009...

THE BILL HAS PASSED THE HOUSE...PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS ALREADY SAID HE WILL SIGN THE BILL INTO LAW ASAP.. IF HE EVER HAS A CHANCE!

************* THE BANKING INDUSTRY IS SPENDING A HUGE AMOINT OF MONEY TO ATTEMPT TO DEFEAT THIS BILL...DON'T LET THEM... CONTACT AND "DEMAND THAT YOUR SENATORS AND ALL THE SENATE GET THIS BILL PASSED******

*********OR THEY (THE SENATE) WILL FACE THE ANGER OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC FOR BEING "BOUGHT OUT" BY THE SAME BANKING INDUSTRY THAT WAS JUST "BAILED OUT" WITH YOUR TAX DOLLARS.

HR 1106, S.61 ARE NOT BAILOUTS ! ITS SIMPLE MODIFIES THE CHAPTER 13 BANKRUPCY LAW THAT WOULD ALLOW A JUDGE TO MODIFY OR CRAMDOWN A LOAN TO PRESENT VALUE IF THE BANK COULD NOT WORK OUT A AFFORDABE MODIFICATION WITH THE BORROWER !

**** THE BANKS WOULD END ALL THIS BS, BECAUSE IF THEY DIDN'T THEY WOULD CERTAINLY NOT WANT A JUDGE TO.....MAKE THE MODIFICATION FOR THEM....

"MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD" THIS IS THE ONE TIME, IT COULD MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE IN YOUR FUTURE" !!!!!!!!!!
